Decisive: New Currents in Street Photography

Sixteen Mile Arts Photography Gallery will showcase SIXTY (60) photographs for the exhibit, with thirty (30) prints & thirty (30) images in rotation on our digital screen. The exhibit will run throughout August, 2016

The great street photographers typically used small rangefinder cameras to capture spontaneous moments & people without being noticed. Whatever our tools may be, the street photographer is always an observer, looking for the decisive moment before it’s gone.

As Henri-Cartier Bresson, the father of modern street photography says…

“…Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.” HCB

On View at the gallery through May, 2016.

Shadow Stories Vol. 2 100 Black & White Mobile Photos

One hundred (100) images will be showcased for the exhibit, with thirty (30) printed on museum quality paper and seventy (70) in rotation featured on our digital screen. The exhibit will run April 15th through May 16th, 2016.

It’s been said that when we photograph people in color we capture their clothes and when we shoot them in Black & White we capture their soul. In monochrome, we are left with light, shadow & contrast: the very heart of photography.

In the words of American photographer Robert Frank:

“…Black and white are the true colors of photography. To me, they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected.” Robert Frank
