EYES OF THE WORLD

Art of the Portrait
CALL FOR ENTRIES

We are all the eyes of the world. This is especially true for the mobile photographer as we document the world around us, at all times, as we see it & encounter its immediacy.

Our spring exhibit Eyes of the World will showcase Portraits and is now open for entries through May 14, 2017.

The portrait is as integral to photography as it is to painting. Great portraitists reach below the surface, they know you must dig down to reveal deeper emotions & secrets. They go for the essence. Eyes of the World is a showcase exhibit for the art of the portrait.

Sixteen Mile Arts photography gallery seeks a broad range of mobile device created Portrait & People photography from established and emerging mobile photographers for Eyes of the World held June 2 – June 30, 2017.  Deadline for entry May 14, 2017.

All mobile phone and tablet based photo images are welcome.

In the words of photographer Edward Steichen:

“…A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” — Edward Steichen

SHADOW STORIES VOL. 3

25 Prints | 55 Digital

In the digital era, photographers aren’t limited by darkroom costs or film choice & yet the allure of Black & White imagery is as strong as ever. It’s been said that when we photograph people in color we capture their clothes, but when we shoot them in Black & White we capture their soul. To eliminate color leaves us with light, shadow & contrast: the very heart of photography.

In the words of American photographer Robert Frank:

“…Black and white are the true colors of photography. To me, they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected.” Robert Frank

The Shadow Stories exhibits are a celebration of Black & White Mobile Photography – a showcase for the range of photographic possibilities inherent in the monochrome image.
